Creating a Gate From a Picture

img_16521.JPG This is a gate my customer saw in Carmel and wanted me to match.

hung-gate1.jpgHere is the finished gate I designed, powder coated and hung at the customer’s home in Fair Oaks, CA.

grease-hasp1.jpgThe hasp, as seen in the above picture from Carmel, was a metal- on-metal hasp that had rusted.  In the hasp on the gate I designed, I included a grease fitting to keep it moving freely and to prevent it from squeaking.  I also provided the customer with a grease gun for future maintenance. The ability to lock the gate was blended into the design.

grease-hinge1.jpgThe hinges on this gate are ball-bearing and greased. The bracket above the hinge is designed to prevent someone from lifting the gate off when it’s locked.

I always offer to include high quality, durable parts & accesories in all of my projects.

This sturdy gate was created for a friend to whom I had recommended John. She had a sketch of something similar she had seen in New Mexico and John was able to come up with a design that would fit into her landscape. She loves it so much he will be creating a second for the breezeway.
